It was an honor to present Cecily with our Shawl Dawl Giveaway last Month.

I personally have the same shawl myself and I love how versatile this shawl is and it has become a wardrobe staple for me.  
Cecily was the perfect person to win this Shawl, she’s young, fun and stylish, the shawl fit her like a glove, and I know she will get tons of compliments on it!

One of my favorite things about working at Bunky Boutique is the amazing people I get to meet and talk with.  One of those amazing people is Sandra Michaels.  
She is a lovely and beautiful woman and it was so special to be able to present her the necklace she won from our November contest.

Sandra said winning the necklace was one of the best things that could of happened to her.  She has never won anything in her life and winning the necklace meant the world to her.  Sandra is battling cancer and is winning that battle.  Every time she visits Bunky she is so gracious and thoughtful.  I am suddenly feel strength and empowered to be thankful of everything around me whenever I get to see Sandra.

New adventure

So one business is never enough, right??  

I am excited to share that I am starting a new business.  I am one of the co-founders of a company called Loyal to the Soil.  My husband Jim, myself and our third business partner Chris are starting the company together.  We were accepted into an incubator program called Seed Spot back in September. 

SEED SPOT supports early stage social entrepreneurs who are launching ventures that
create a positive impact in the lives of people and communities on a local, national, or global scale.

Selected ventures will participate in a rigorous 18-week program and on May 17th we pitch our business to a crowd of potential investors!  Click here to check out the list of ventures participating!
It's very exciting and I am learning so much.  So if you don't see me at Bunky, I'm at my Loyal to the Soil offices at the Levine Building.  I would love to give anyone interested a tour of our collaborative office space.  See some photos below from our first week at Seed Spot as well as the launch party event last Thursday evening.  Details on the business and lots more info to come....stay tuned!

My new meditation

I was recently in Montana (my home state) visiting family and friends.  Every morning I was able to get up and throw on a hoody and go for a run on a nearby trail.  

I found that I have a deep love for trail running.  

I have always enjoyed running or hiking, but I haven't done much combining of the two.  When I'm just plain hiking I am a total scaredy cat about going downhill.  Going up is fine, doesn't bother me a bit, but I'm super slow and a total baby going down the mountain.  I would actually rather have to walk uphill both ways like our parents always said they did walking to school!  

But what I realized is that if I'm running and going downhill I'm not scared.  Instead I'm focused and feel confident.  Trail running never gets boring because of the constant change in terrain and it's truly meditative because you cannot think of anything else except where to put your foot next.  No to-do lists, no thinking about the grocery store, or emails to send...just focusing on the feel of the land, the breeze against your skin, and the fresh air in your lungs. 

Guilty Pleasure

I am totally into this show.  I never watched American Idol, or Dancing with the Stars, or any of these types of shows...but I am totally into The Voice.  I should say that I don't watch TV because I have other way more intellectually stimulating things to do.  But I like TV.  Mostly I at least watch hip TV ...HBO, showtime, fx, netflix documentaries...blah blah.  But I also need my mindless HGTV and now - The Voice.

I find the show enjoyable because everyone is supportive and nice to each other, the judges offer advice instead of criticism.  It's cool to listen to good singing, especially songs that we all know the words to.  And I like Carson Daly.  He's gotten thin and fit since his TRL days and he seems like a  genuinely decent guy. 

Blake Shelton makes me laugh.  Like I actually laugh out loud.   How often can you say you do that while watching a network show?  But he's sarcastic and dry and that country twang is endearing.

And Adam Levine...now that is one good looking man.  Honestly it's not really fair because any man, woman, child...basically any being with a pulse...would have an extremely difficult time not picking him as their coach.  The mere notion that you may get the chance to be within a few feet of that level of attractive is enough to throw any logic out the window and pick him.  But then I wonder if maybe looking at him is similar to looking at the sun?  Brilliant, but edgy.  Yet a risk worth taking.  

So there you have it.  A little intro to The Voice.  I highly recommend allowing yourself to get sucked in to the show.  DVR it though because the constant recap can be brutal and since it's an hour long show you have to be able to skip through commercials.

Friendship

"Make New Friends, But Keep the Old....
One is Silver and the other's Gold..."

 I learned this song when I was in the Daisy's, a group little girls join the year before becoming a Girl Scout.  This song is the only thing I remember from being a Daisy, other than totally hating it and being the weirdo kid that cried every meeting and talked to my stuffed dog instead of the other girls....but I digress...
The reason I bring up my short lived time as a Daisy is because this song struck a cord with me (ha..get it?!?).  Throughout my life I've thought back to the meaning of this little song.  It has guided me as I've evolved and navigated friendships throughout every stage of my life. 
Friendships change as life charges forward.
As we grow closer to some and farther way from others, we understand that it's all enriching and perfect.
No one more important than another.
Each friendship it's own gem.

Last weekend my husband and I attended my friend Lindsey's wedding.  She is one of my oldest friends.  She married a sweet man named Joe and their happiness was so apparent and stunning.  Lindsey looked incredibly beautiful and the setting of Chico, Montana was magical.

The wedding provided an opportunity to spend time together with friends that I've known since high school (which is almost 13 years ago now!), as a group, like we used to.  And I have to say, there is something superbly special about people that you have known forever.  Friends that have seen you evolve.  You can tell stories for hours and laugh until you are crying.  You know their parents and siblings and they know yours.
They remember the house you grew up in and you remember who their prom date was.  

It felt very full circle and it was happy and lovely.
